Reproducing Social Inequality – A Learning Game
This is a game inspired by the work of sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. Designed for students of educational science, the game offers an interactive way to explore how schools can contribute to the reproduction of social inequalities. Rather than engaging with theory through texts alone, participants experience and reflect on key sociological concepts through play and discussion.
This English version is a translation of the original game developed for the German-speaking context, where socioeconomic disadvantage is closely linked to educational inequality. Some of the references in the game reflect this context. These contexts may change over time or they may not translate well to other situations. We therefore encourage players to consider the specific social and cultural setting in which the game was created and to compare and contrast it with their own specific circumstances.
In this document, you will find all game instructions and materials needed to get started. Simply print, cut, and prepare the materials and you’re ready to play.
